We are planning on renovating our house this summer and were wondering how long it would take to acquire a permit from the city. We are planning a second story addition and a house expansion on two sides of the house.
What would the difference in time be to obtain a permit from the city for a new construction (i.e. Demolition and construction of a new house)?
Hi,
City of toronto. Only takes 10 days to issue the permit.
It is all depends if you have all the drawings available for submission.
Architects drawing, Structural engineer drawings and stamps. HVAC drawing. Heat and cold lost calculating.

Generally is take up to 10 business days.
The City usually has a 10 business day timeline and sometimes sooner.
Do you have a contractor and a budget as they will want to know this.
We provide an interior design Ground up plan if you are interested.
These will include full architecturals and engineered drawings.
Thank you
