How many person-hours are in building a house?

There needs to be more information. Is it a custom house? How many sq/ft? What type of finish?

It's been one of those weeks where you don't realize that people cant read your mind.

A big thank you to everyone on this site for being so understanding and helpful!

I'm in the process of trying to gauge what the cost of building a home is if I do most of the work myself. The ideal plan is the Winton Homes Sylvan Lake Contemporary with the lower roof raised up to match the other to keep everything simple.

Details:

30x40

Flat roof, straight walls.

1.5 floors

Nothing fancy for finishings. Painted trim, laminate flooring, 1 piece shower tub inserts instead of tile.

Dry wall and paint.

Everything is planned to be as simple as possible. No funny shapes to work around, and everything 90 degree corners.

No runs for water/waste in the house longer than 20' from where the water comes in.

A basement would be ideal, but I don't think it'll be in the budget.

Depends on the design. Look at ICF... build your walls using the lego blocks, pour concrete in them put a roof on it & call it a house.
