My panel is 125A I believe, its getting rusted and I was thinking of changing it, how much does it cost? Also, can the panel be moved to 3 feet away from current location? how much would that cost?

Also it may be the best way to go with an upgrade to 200amps... Hydro charges a certain amount for disconnect and reconnect. It would same cost for upgrade so now is your chance without and extra costs out of your pocket

The previous comments from Don in BC are not quite accurate. Most important he is located in BC, here in the GTA there are no fees from hydro, but there is an ESA permit and inspection required for the electrical work which only Licensed Electrical contractors can get you.

If the panel is simply rusting a bit on the exterior, that could be simple surface rust and not have any impact on the interior components of the panel. It would have to be inspected to know that answer.

Pricing for a panel change can run from $1400 to $2200 depending on the condition of the incoming service meter and related components.

There are rules where the panel can be located inside and the length of the main wires that are within the interior walls of you home. The service conduit does have a maximum length it can be, so that must be adhered to.

The quantity of wires and junction boxes for the extensions to the secondary wires must also be considered.

It's hard to give an exact cost, but to move it 3 feet you could be looking at about $3000 in Canada because then all your wires including your service conductors may be too short and need replacing and splicing. If you keep it in the same spot you could be looking at about half that cost. I'm not sure the local rates are in your state but that's a ball park for here in Canada.

thank you so much guys.

1) How much does ESA charge for permit?

2)do contractors charge me for submitting an application to ESA? ie, do they charge me for creating application and drawing(is there any drawing needs to be submitted?)

3)If I don't want to move the location then cost of just changing panel goes down significantly?

4)Is there any benefit for me to upgrade my panel to 200? I know for the fact that AMP upto my Meter is only 125. Fromm meter to my panel cable would need to be changed which is underground.

This ESA permit is not your responsibility, it is the responsibility of the contractor you hire.

if you wish to contact me we can discuss it further upon visiting.

125amp panel change cost 1150.00. That includes peemit fees/ tax/ material

To relocate the panel 3 feet. I would have to have photos or see it. Their are codes that I have to be follow.

Thanks

Adam
