We have just bought a new home. The bedroom has dark walls, trim and a dark wallpaper border.

How much to remove borders, prime walls of a 10x15 room and paint trim?

Hey Ann,

Congratulations on your new purchase!

I agree with Kevin, 200$ would do the job, excluding materials.

Based on your information I would say around 1500.00- 2000.00.

Depends if you want to upgrade trim or not.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi,

Congratulation on your new home. The estimated cost will be between $600 - $650.

No replacement of trim, and priming only. $200 to $2,000 is quite a range.

Can you only provide detail on what would be considered in doing this job?

Hi Ann,

$200 for removing border, priming walls and painting trim sounds right but you may not have to prime your walls before you paint unless you are going with a very light colour. There is primer in almost all topcoats now so you may be better off to see if two coats of topcoat will cover. If you do need a third coat you are really no further behind.

Enjoy your new home.

This sounds to me like a 1 day or 8-9 hour job for a professional. Remove wallpaper border, definitely prime over the walls and trim to ensure your top coat turns out correctly and paint the trim in the bedroom.

I would charge 650.00 plus materials and materials will be around 75.00 (primer and semi gloss paint for the trim)

Where the wall paper comes off there may be some repairs depending on how it was applied but the cost would incorporate this.

Don't pay 200.00 and don't pay 2000.00 :)

I agree with David unless you can find someone that knows what they are doing and is willing to take cash.

I would charge between $450 - $600 labour and material.
