My area is flat and there is no old fence to be removed. Access to backyard is easy (it's a brand new end-unit townhouse), total of 220 linear feet give or take + 2 gates. I'm interested in cedar but would appreciate if you could also give the price for an alternative wood that is less expensive than cedar.
Thanks a lot!
Hi, it depends on the style you wish to have.
Cedar would be expensive though.
Please share the style and we would be able to help you.
I agree more detail is needed. If you are on a corner lot i would check to see if the builder is supplying a fence for at least the street side.
A ball park for pressure treated with 6x6 posts will range from 37-50$ a linear foot depending on style. Cedar again depending on style could be up too 70$ a foot. Again these are rough estimates.
With more detail on size of post and framing members im sure it could be narrowed down to a more accurate quote.
Hope this helps somewhat
Good luck

Hi Andre,
your needs are clear, for the most part, other than the layout situation, accessibility, and the soil/substrate itself (how easy to dig).
Though we don't service your area, a typical rate for a 6 foot high fence with 6x6 corner posts and gate posts, and 4x4 mid-span posts would start at about $45/linear foot in my area of Belleville, Ontario.
Cedar was originally attractive for its looks and anti-rot properties. Newer pressure treated materials, such as Sienna, have both great aesthetics and life expectancy not far off cedar, but tend to be stronger. Gates start at $299 each.
We hope this helps..
Agree with the ranges from similar posts. Not in your area (am in AB) but $36-$45 for the fence with 6x6 posts and $300 for each basic gate is common in my market.
If you had intricate designs then it would be more. Now that pressure treated lumber is sienna/brown coloured instead of green I'm finding that clients are opting for pressure treated rather than cedar.
