How to cover stairs to keep snow outside?

Hello,
I have outside stairs going to basement. I would like to cover those stairs to keep snow outside. But at the same time I don't want to block light going to the basement.
Any ideas and recommendations appreciated.

Hi Aamir,
Based on your photo, I don't think you can cover the stairs. The cover would have to be on the same angle as the stairs and have enough headroom to be legal. It looks like it would have to go right across your bay Window to meet the requirements.
