We are trying to replace the tiles in our drop ceiling with sturdier fire rated ones, but between each panel is a beam so we can't slide them through.
We don't know how to get them in and we are on a time crunch, so suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
Is the row beside the row your struggling with beam free? If so slide them over and do the row with out the beam last ?
No, basically every row has a beam where the rod is.
The ceiling grid itself was probably installed too high and didnt leave sufficient enough clearance.
What you can try is cutting the tiles in half if they are 2x4 tiles and put in a small cross tee and make it a 2x2 in one small section if you can't get the entire full tile in.
It looks like they raised the ceiling up as high as possible for extra head room. They installed the tiles as they installed the tracks. So you will have to take the track down and basically re-install it as you go, replacing the tiles with the new ones.
