The process is very simple. First determine the time involved to complete the project. Next determine what you believe to be a fair hourly rate for your work. From there you can give your client a price.

Most companies will quote per square foot and price will be dependent on your territory by average median income and how many painting companies you have. I would suggest doing some market research and find our what your competitors charge. Most of the larger franchise companies will give you there square footage rate, where small companies likely won't. For me, I quote projects one of two ways, either by square footage or by day labour plus paint. I offer the day labour on small jobs like a bathroom, or on large jobs where the project may be an open concept. Commercial and new construction where spray is required, its by square foot and item as working around other trades is always a problem because other trades usually don't care about anyone else's work and often are behind schedule.
