Is it fair to state that, in Newfoundland and Labrador, the cost of building 1120 sq. ft. (32'x35') basement walls with the ICF system is approximately 10 - 15% more expensive than building those walls with forms and poured concrete?
Thanks in advance
At least would say 20% to be safe
Wayne,
We have done several ICF foundations in and around the Edmonton area. The straight up cost of ICF vs a formed concrete foundation is roughly 15% more. The cost of the ICF cannot be just compared straight across, you must consider the construction cost savings of not having to do several other things that have to get done with conventional foundation installations, such as; interior frost wall framing, insulation and vapour barrier etc. Adding these costs back into the equation we've found the costs to be very comparible, within 5%, and very much worth this relatively small extra cost, especially considering all the benefits you receive from using ICF (thermal, acoustic, installation quickness, cold weather installations etc).
I hope this helps, good luck.
