Is it possible to install a floating shelf in a tiled shower stall? I was under the impression that the bracket had to be fastened before tiling was done.

Any ideas or products I should check out??

Thanks

Kevin

I've never heard of a bracket that gets installed first. You can install any shelf after the fact. Just attach the bracket to a stud (preferably) behind the tiles, and make sure to use some kind of sealant, applied liberaly to the bolt and the back of the bracket before installation, for a water proof seal.

Yes you can install a floating shelf in a tiled shower stall. They can be purchased at Olympia Tile, Centura Tile and Rivalda Tile to name but a few. They can be installed with silicone and supported until the silicone sets and please make sure the shelf does not slip. I would suggest at least one day but two is preferable.

You can also check with one of the tile companies mentioned above on the method.

Kevin,

What about installing a glass corner shelf. You'll need only two brackets which are mounted with two small screws and can be placed in a horizontal joint. And if you don't like it anymore, you can remove it and re-grout the holes. Such shelfes usually available by any glass supplier.
