Insulating upstairs bedroom

I have a storie 1 1/2 house built in 1912 bedroom upstairs Ive insulated the walls and roof line on the 9/12 pitch roof line inside 24 on center and put insulated batting with R 20 than 6 ml poly can i put owens corning 1.1/2 4 by 8 sheet insulated foam board on after the poly than drywall?

If you are going to go with that system .

It's best to do the batt insulation, then the s/m board ,then the poly , then strap the walls and hang the drywall directly on the studs ,

This way you won't have problems with condensation between the poly , and the s/m .

Also avoid nail pops from using long screws .

No you can not put 1 1/2" thick foam on after the poly. All the insulation needs to be on the cold side in winter side of the poly. You can put up the foam the the poly however.

STRONGLY recommend that you all insulation be sealed

in behind your vapor barrier,go the extra distance and seal the poly {bead of caulking } to every stud ,to create containment of each spacing. Not necessary but if roof or outside walls did leak it would help to contain water damage. PS REMEMBER TO KEEP AIR FLOW ON UNDERSIDE OF ROOF

Your vapour barrier should always be the last thing before your drywall so

if you want to add insulation with the foam board, put that over the

batts and then poly and seal.
