We would like to make a walkout finished unit in our basement.
It is a single home. The unfinished basement has 3 large windows and no walkout door. We are not sure if it is possible or not. We would like some more info on scope, work process and approximate cost.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Nish
Yes, it is possible in most basements. However this is not usually a quick or easy
fix. First you should know where your water table is. A engineer can tell you this in a report he should do for you. if this is going to be a income unit ( kitchen / bathroom )
you must register it with the city because your plumber & electrician will have building permits. The area you want the door will be
excavated slightly below your existing footings and then the stair well/exit will be built. Your foundation will be cut to fix the recommended exit door for the unit. Your probably looking at a Minimum of $ 25K
Cost can vary from to 13 to 17 thousand even more all depends on existing condition, one needs to see it before can give You firm price.

Hi Nish,
We are located closer to Toronto, so here we do those projects for $15,000 - for the entrance only. Then we charge around $1,000/window if the windows are in concrete and have to be cut larger. This is general pricing.
We are outside the Greater Toronto Area But if you could provide pictures of the backyard and rear wall with the windows we would be happy to give you advise..Anything is possible ...
This job needs to be done probably and with permit. The cost would be $25000 approx including the permit drawings
