I want to move a toilet only 3-4" sideways to accommodate a shower stall in a small bathroom. Is this a big costly job or can I just add an offset flange?
It is going to be a big job, maximum shift for using a flange offset is 2.5 inches,
Hi Rebecca.
This reply maybe a little late. This won't be too costly as ABS fittings is pretty cheap. The most difficult part will be gaining access to the cut the toilet drain line and to add an extension. Cutting the floor is the way to go. If you're doing a bathroom reno, it will be easy enough to fix and once tiled you will never know it was cut open. The only issue you may run into is there may be a joist blocking you from moving it the full distance you want. If this happens you can use an offset sideway toilet flange to get you rest of the way. When the new flange is installed you can level it with the new finished floor.
