I just had a frameless shower doors installed. They swing like saloon doors one side 1/4 of inch from the wall and the other door is like 3/16 from the wall with a 3/16 gap in the middle. Is this installed correctly?
I would post a picture if possible. Your description is ambiguous.
Well, I'd say it's been installed within normal standard. Gaps are necessary requirements for swing doors and depend on thickness of glass, sizes of doors, imperfections of walls etc. But I'm sure what bothers you the most is waterproofing of your shower unit. And that totally depends on the shower size, shape and design. When you design the shower enclosure you must consider those gaps and properly locate your shower head (heads) and/or massage jets. If the size of the shower is significantly small, I would never recommend double swing doors. If the door opening allow, frameless sliding door would be the best choice. Second best choice is the single hinged door along with one fixed glass wall panel or without it. Double swing doors can be safely used in fairly large showers with proper locations for water outlets. Without details of your shower design it's hard to speak of it's safety and waterproofing. But gaps are just fine.
Thank you both for your reply. This will be helpful for me.
