I have asked my contractor, several times for an itemized report of my project... do I have the right to ask this? While it is fully my intention to pay for work completed, my estimate has gone up 250% and contractor unwilling to account for the difference.
On this subject.
If the project conditions have changed from the signing of the contract and the scope of work has changed.
You are entitled to request a Itemized project site report identifying all changes made and cost relating to them.
This is something you should have received as the cost of the project escalated
It is not uncommon for items to come up. Or problems found in electrical, or under floors in walls etc. As things occur your contractor should be letting you know what has been found.
And give you an idea of costs associated with it.
I would insist on an itemized list. And ask them to go over it with you.
Good luck with your project.

Your contract should be written up with detail of the project. Anything above and beyond the contract should be discussed and accepted by you before the item is done. You should be offered a discriptiion and price of each item that has changed the price and why the item or change is required. This is when you and your contractor make a plan to solve the problem. Otherwise I cannot see you being responsible for added costs in my opinion.
