Jet Pump Keeps Running

I draw our water from the lake; the pump continues to run even after hitting 50 psi, looking for possibilities as to what the problem may be? The foot valve is in 5 1/2 feet of water under 8 inches of ice at the present time.

check pressure in pressure tank by using a tire pressure gauge on the snifter valve on the pressure tank. sounds like it may be an issue with the tank itself. depending on the age of your pressure tank, the bladder may be ruptured or there may be a blockage at the tank t entering the tank not allowing the pump to reach the desired pressure setting for your household.
