I am unable to find a lock (which must be activated by a key) for a glass
sliding door? All of the locks are termed "outside".
I cannot lock and unlock the glass sliding door from the outside.
I have to lock and unlock the door from the inside of the house.
Any help from you?
Thanks
Hello Martin,
You will have to identify the maker of your patio door. Patio door handles with keys are not a one handle fits all solution. Finding the manufacturer of the patio door will help you approach them and ask for a Handle with keylock for that specific patio door. Or with the patio door model you may be able to find an OEM handle & lock (OEM are products made by a company other than the manufacturer of the actual product)
First you will have to identify the manufacturer and the model of the patio door.
Often there is a sticker or label on the inside top frame - open the patio door and look up in the frame.
If you can't identify the patio door post pictures of the inside and outside of the current handle and we will try to identify the maker and model..
Regards,
Hi Martin
Contact a few of your local locksmiths. They will ask you a few questions about the door.
How old is the door?? Wood or Metal?? How
thick is the door?? etc. If the door is fairly new , a lock for that exact purpose
and your exact door may still be made. A good lock smith will be able to fix you up no matter what.
As others have said, it depends on your door. I would also recommend contacting a local locksmith to make sure you get a quality product that fits, but here's an example of one I found on Amazon:
Prime-Line Products C 1032 Door Handle Set with Wood Pull and Key, Black Diecast
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000FKBQ8K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zpCwCbE8S65Z3
Again, it's possible an aftermarket handle and lock like that one won't be compatible with your patio door and mechanism. The only guaranteed options are to contact a professional who can come see the door, and assess the situation, or if you can provide them with enough specifics of your door over the phone.
Hope this helps!
