I think I have to replace my laundry tub taps. I have posted pictures of what looks like an over flow valve and tube that runs from my fucet to a tube in my floor. Not sure what it is for and new taps don't seem to have it. Could someone let me know what I should do with it.
2nd question is what would I be looking at price wise to have a plumber come in and replace the taps for me.
Thanks
That is a trap seal primer.
It adds a small amount of water into your floor drain every time you turn on the faucet. (So you don't get sewer gas in your home)
Try replacing that with a "sock" or something similar.
(Basically a check valve that you just push into your floor drain.
Its a primer tube, what it does is sends some water through the tube(when you use laundry faucet), and that tube runs under concrete to your basement drain, its done so the water in the floor drain would not evaporate and cause sewage smell in your house.
If you have condensing furnace and AC draining to that floor drain you might get away with removing it or just buy a faucet that will have primer option(there are options available, even good looking ones).
