How do you do a test to ensure that the toilet tank does not leak water onto
the floor?
One day I had seen a thin layer of water on the floor, very close to the toilet.
I did not see any water in the area that is away from the toilet.
Also - very important question:
Why do we have the air vents (for hot air supply) on the floor in the toilet
rather than on the side wall in the upstairs bathroom?
In the event of a leaking toilet or bath tub, the water would leak from the upstairs bathroom to the basement and the main floor via the AIR VENT!
The water would not flow to the main floor of the house via the air vent (for hot air supply) if the air vents are located on the side of the dry wall.
Did I get it right?
Thanks
Depending on where you live the water coming from the street can be very cold and your tank will condensate and form water. If there is no water seen. Don't worry about it. If it's an old toilet sometimes they get hairline cracks in them and weep water. As for the vent in the floor it doesn't much matter in a flood situation that water will find its way downstairs. Water causes more damage than fire.
you can add some food colour in the tank, then flush if you see the coloured water on the floor you know its leaking
