I have attached a picture of a spot in my bedroom that has mould growth. It is where the wall and the ceiling join above a window. I noticed some drops of water there and cleaned and dried it previously. What is the cause and how can I deal with this?
Hi
I cannot see the picture but it could be caused by condensation or a window leak behind the drywall.
If this is a rental unit I suggest you contact your landlord as the moisture will feed the mold growth.
Once the water issue has been fixed, if the mold is less than 10 Sq ft the guidelines for Mold Remediation indicate you can remove the mold yourself.
Let me know if you need further information.
Thanks,
Kim
You should hire someone with mould certification or a disaster recovery certificate to have it inspected properly.
As others have indicated, have this tested and properly repaired by professionals. However, mold is a symptom of excessive moisture presence or intrusion, there may be water coming from above. You do not want to simply repair this without finding the source of the problem or it is very likely to return. It could be excessive moisture in attic due to ventilation problems or venting into attic space, perhaps a problem with roof or some other source. But do not forget to locate the source of problem.
