Hi,
Is it possible to move Forced air Natural GAS furnace as well as Tank less water heater to un-insulated Cold-room which is approx 25 feet from existing location? And how much it cost?
Cold room size is 4' x 27' x 9'.
Cost should comprises of duckwork both include return, also provision of exhaust required for both furnace as well as Water heater.
Property Location is in Etobicoke.
Thanks,
Sam
I would say its doubtfull. All duct work would have to be re ran, chances are cold room is cement or cinder block, so you would need to remove at least 2 rows from ceiling and possibly 6-8 wide in order to bring duct work out of the room. I mean anything can be done for enough money, if it was my house i would not do it. But expect it to be over 10 grand if you go ahead with it
Hi Sam,
It is definitely possible to move both Units over. The cost would be very hard to determine without seeing it in person.
Thanks
Hello Sam,
To move furnace and tankless water heater could cost anywhere from $2000 to $15000really depend on the exsiting layout and where you're wanted to be moved it would be quite a job
For best result (mechanically. And cost effective as well as Neat safe job)
Usually furnaces and water heaters are not installed in uninsulated rooms. If I were you, I will check with themanufacturers if they could be installed in such low temperatures.
Hello Sam
My name is Daniel & I'm from KDM Home & Gas. The short answer is yes providing that cold room wall isn't a supporting wall & that you no longer want the cold room to be a cold room. The return air & heating duct will have to come through that wall, usually cement; as well as the new gas line & water lines . Not knowing the distance from the meter or what other appliances you have running on Gas you might need a new line all together from the meter. With regards to air, I'm assuming you have a high efficiency furnace, which means you can just two pipe both the furnace & Hot Water Hearer from the cold room to outside. Is there electricity in the room ? If not you'll need that run in as welll, plus 50 feet of water lines which could possibly throw your balance off / may need a water distribution pump.

You cannot move a furnace into an uninsulated cold room. The furnace MUST be in an insulated heated area. They will not work properly in a cold room.
