Multi-speed single stage gas furnace

There's no shortage of advice on the difference between single stage, multi-stage and variable speed gas furnaces. Where does the multi-speed single stage furnace fall? Is it relatively new? How does is compare to multi-stage and variable speed gas furnaces? The one I'm currently looking at is the Concord 95G1E (specs at http://concord-air.com/_/pdfs/specs/Concord_95G1E_Tech_Specs.pdf). We live in northeastern Ontario... -30C to -40C temps at times from December to February.
