Tired of yellow. Looking for something neutral.

I dont have a taste. Totally lost.

Can someone please suggest a good paint color to match the oak stairs? Its a 30 y.o house. So nothing too contemporary.

(Benjamin Moore brand )

Thanks a lot!

OC 28 , colingwood , is the benjamin moore code .

Its not too contemporary , nor traditional. Not too dark nor too bright .

Not to forget , paint is a personal preference, but i find collingwood to be the best choice . Its what I recommend for most of my recent projects .

Hello Totally Lost,

We are happy to hear you've decided to paint and get rid of the old yellow. It is one of our least favourite colour choices because it has makes everything look and feel yucky. That said, it can be a nice colour when done selectively.

By far our most popular colour choices on trend are in the grey family. We recommend choosing a grey that has no hints of blue (grey is made with blue sometimes!), as this can become really drab under bad lighting. The blue tones dominate and the warmth of the grey disappears.

We personally recommend a colour by Dulux, O'Keefe Grey - it's one of those colours that is what we'd call a true grey. It's doesn't have blue hints in it and doesn't change much under different lighting.

You can find the colour here:

https://www.dulux.com.sg/en/colour-palettes/okeefe-grey

It can be matched and made at your local Benjamin Moore retailer.

Alternatively, one of our most popular choices from Benjamin Moore is Revere Pewter . It is a very good colour that would pair well with your oak.

See the link below for that colour:

Don't forget to ask your Benjamin Moore staff for their opinion and they have a visualizer in store so you can see what your colour will look like in different lighting!

Good luck and happy painting!

Yellow used to be popular in old days, it is warm but looks outdated, these days more people prefer cool tone to decorate, such as gray, if you do gray it will be more pleasing, go with light blueish gray it will work well with light yellow oak, the gray is cool tone and your stair iswarmi tone, so it creates color contrast

You should be able to get advice from any rep at the Benjamin Moore store. Popular colours today seem to be greys or greiges such as revere pewter plus other different shades of grey. You can also google various websites to see what colours are recommended by designers.
