Old aluminium siding - value?

We want to change the exterior facing of our 1971 bungalow. It is currently wrapped with aluminium siding. I am told that this is very valuable. Does anyone know what it's worth per sq foot? I'd like to get a good idea before inviting bids on my project.

Hi Jean! Actually the aluminum siding would be meausured in weight. Striping the house then taking it to a recycler and they will weigh it for you and pay you the current amountwhen you take it in. You might want to call around to see how much each recycler is paying because it seems to vary from place to place. Hope this helps.

I agree with Brent. The aluminium is only worth its weight. A contractor might offer to remove the siding for free as long as they can benefit from recycling it. You can also remove and recycle it yourself and put the money towards re-doing the siding on your house. It would have been stolen long before it was worth too much.
