Most painters don't charge by sq foot it's normally by job with supply's included or it could be 40cents a square foot for something that is sprayed but this would imply there's nothing to cover example a bedroom no floors installed nothing.

Hope this helps.

I've worked for some painting companies that charge 5$ per square foot (of floor space not wall. Hence a 10x10 room would be charged out at 5$per sqft and = 500$. I now charge around that also. Would go down to 4.20$ or sq foot for the right customer. However that's all based on 8 foot ceilings. Paint included.

Kevin is right most jobs are evaluated by sight, & a complete number is given. If it is an insurance job they have a SF price which is ridiculous.

It depends on the job. I would have to come and see to give a proper quote.

Have you gotten the drywall taper in yet? Expect as much as 4$ per floor sq ft,but it depends on many factors, I advise you get someone in to look at it to give you a number, other wise you could be a sitting duck to extras.

While important, price is only 1 consideration in getting a job done. You want it to look good today and in 3-6 months time. I charge ~$300 per residential room, holes filled, primed and 2 coats. Baseboards, casing and ceilings extra.

Very few jobs are priced out per sq.ft. especially painting. You could have a much smaller room next to large room but it could cost you more to paint maybe because it has more windows, doors, openings, niches, trimwork etc. Do your Homework and get at least three detailed written Estimates, get references.
