Hi there... my wife and I are building a house and are looking at using either precast or limestone around exterior window and door frames. The cost for limestone is 3 times more expensive than precast.
My wife does not like the 'Grey' look of precast around the exterior window and door frames. Is there anything that can be done to the more economical precast to achieve a cream colour look to match the exterior window and door frames. If there is another potential option, I would like to hear it.
We would like to have the sills protrude out from the wall.
Thank-you for all your professional opinions.
Hi Rick,
Yes absolutely is the answer.
Pre-cast concrete can be coloured in the mix when casting. Any of the good pre-cast companies will do this for you. They even have a colour that mimics limestone very closely.
We use it all the time in the homes we build.
Again, this is done by the Pre-cast company during the manufacturing process, not afterwards.
They also will etch the piece to very closely match limestone.
The company that I use is in Mississauga and are listed in the yellow pages.
You will be happy with the results.
Best of luck
