I am having some parging work done on the interior of my garage. On the wall which is adjacent to the house, there are a half a dozen bolts which are fairly large in size. I've attached an image. I'm wondering if it is possible to have these sanded down or should I just leave them alone (assuming they are part of the structure itself)?
Hi Casey,
Your pic didn't come through but if the bolts are vertical and from the concrete up through a 2x6 then you could probably grind off some of the threaded portion. They are actually holding your house to the foundation. If you are covering them up then give them a bit of tightening first.
Good luck with it.

You could just leave them as is and you done have to worry about it!
Hard to tell what the bolts are doing from the picture. But I'm guessing they are bolting the rim joist to the foundation. Either way they are definitely structural and should not be removed. You can cover them over with drywall, wood or ?
