I have been lucky enough to get enough unused original plaster cove moulding to help in my vintage home restoration, but have been unable to find any information on installing it!
Any advice?
Hi kexxx,
What you need to do Is take a sample piece of the plaster moulding and mark the celing and wall where the moulding rests. With a helping hand use a caulk line and have the These marks snapped onto both celing and wall. Pre drill holes (slightly larger than the size of the screw shaft used) in the plaster moulding to acomadate a temparary screw which will hold moulding in place until the caulking(Alex plus paintable dap/caulk) you apply to points of contact on the plaster where it will sit against the celing and wall. Be careful to not over tighten.
Once dry and secure (12-18 hours) remove the screws and mix of 3:1 plaster to drywall joint compound. Sand once dry, and use a compressor blower / shop vacuume to remove all fine dust before painting.
Hope this works well for ya
Thank you so very much...It's a fairly simple job with regard to interior or exterior corners..have the step ladder, chalk line and home scaffolding ready to go.
Will let you know how I make out!
