I have a big problem. I have a jacuzzi tub with a leaking faucet handle. The leak is under the tub, which is completely tiled in above the floor with a tiled (8 foot) step leading up to the top of the tub. I'm going to need to remove that tile, which means breaking it, aren't I? I thought about cutting into the drywall ceiling below it, but I'm guessing all I'm going to see is sub flooring.
if You go from the ceiling you will see the subfloor.
What makes you think the leak is under the tub? You may be able to turn of the water at the meter and service the faucet it self. You have a picture so I can better help you?
Hi Steve
unfortunately your correct . sub floor is what you will probably see.your going to have to bite the bullet and remove some tile. my advise is to get a good plumber in that will do minimal damage to fix the tap then get a professional tile guy in to discuss fixing the tile. just remember you get what you pay for when it comes tile guys

No don't touch it
Call a good local plumber or any of the Plumbers that have replied. it may be repairable from the taps.
Hi, 8 foot? You mean 8 inches?
Regardless, you will need to remove the surrounding of the tub, and yea, cutting underneath it will just expose the floor underneath it.
You dont really have a choice. You can gently pop some tiles off and save them and hopefully find the leak without destroying the surrounding of the tub. Then you will have to rebuild what you took down.
Makes sense?

Eliminating the faucet hardware as the problem is a really good idea. A lot of faucets are serviceable from the top. If you don't know the faucet manufacturer, take a picture and post it here, or take the picture to a reputable quality faucet vendor and ask to speak to the oldest sales guy around. Most will be able to identify the manufacturer and even provide advise on how to get the handle off and install a new cartridge.
