Hello,
I had a new tile bathroom installation completed last year. The shower has not been used yet as I'm still renovating. I'm concerned that they applied grout, rather than caulk at the following places:
-around window (grout already cracking)
-tub and wall joint (appeared to apply caulk overtop of grout)
-tub and floor joint in the corners and at other joints (tub/floor)
I'm hesitant of having the same company come back and repair this, wondering if my opinion is correct that the grout should be removed at these locations and replaced with caulk?
What type of trade would be best to complete this work?
Thanks
Ian, grout is a filler between tiles but should also be sealed after it has been applied. Caulking (like silicone) is meant to seal around windows, doors, toilets sinks and tubs, as it is water proof and stays somewhat flexible. In your case, contact a tile installer for the grout issue and a handyman for caulking. (He is less costly than a window installer). Hope this helps.
