Hi there, I have this unused light switch (there is no light fixture connexted to it and never will - I have more than enough lights) - can I convert it to an outlet? I know it's doable from electrical point of view, but is it legal?

Thanks
Lamp circuits may service several lighting devices with separate switches, as well as duplex outlets. If your switch has no lamp attached, it doesnt mean there are no other (and heavier) loads on the breaker for that circuit. At a minimum, you would need to ensure that users in different rooms would not plug two 1200 watt heaters into two outlets on your "lamp" circuit that has 14/2 wiring and a 10 amp breaker.
Unless you have better wiring (12/2) and test/verify/sum all the loads on the circuit, do not convert a switch into an outlet. Legal or not, it could cause overloading/overheating of the breaker. Consulting an LEC is a good idea.
