I am wanting to paint my foyer tile and wood stairs. What sealer do I use to make sure my paint doesn't chip or scuff?
Zinsser has a primer for ceramic tile, and you should be able to get it from Home Depot.
Use that first and then you can you can use any paint you like over it.
Likewise for the stairs, use another Zinsser primer and paint over.
Hello Allison,
To seal your newly painted tile floor, a water-based floor grade polyurethane should work. It's non-yellowing as compared to the oil-based which can sometimes yellow your colour choices.
In the past we've opted for this product:

It works well, is low door, easy cleanup, and more durable than some other water-based options.
Just remember to always spot test an area first when you're painting and when you are finish coating with the sealer to ensure the products work well with your primer, tile, etc.
Best of luck and happy painting!
