Would like to upgrade my electrical service from 100A to 200A. The Epcor transformer is on my property and about 10-15 m from the existing panel. The wire is underground.
Also, I need a new main panel (2017 standards) AND a new emergency subpanel that will take a solar installation.
Would like to know first a ballpark cost, before hiring.
It's hard to give you a good price with the information given but once you start upgrading underground service it's getting expensive fast the best I can do without seeing it is between 5-10000$ proberly 7000$ but get some quotes have people coming out to see once they see it and measure it and call for material price and digging the trench price and epcor price it's easier for them to give u an accurate quote.
Hope it help you.
Not sure who regulates your hydro in Edmonton, but here in Ontario, each town/city has their own hydro crew who is responsible for the incoming power to the home and meter, after the meter, the homeowner is responsible for all the incoming power and those fees. Chances are if you already have underground power to your home, it may be suitable for 200 amps (if not it may be your costs to upgrade further which could be hefty). Underground work could range from $2000-$20000 depending on that work. Any normal home could require a whole new service entrance and could range from $2000 to $5000. Best thing to do is find 3 certified Electrical contractors in your area and ask for written quotes along with their company licensing, insurance and inspection processes. The most recent code book in Canada is the 2015 Canadian Electrical Code, but your local hydro utility also has their rules which need to be adhered to.
