How much would the cost of materials be to replace the shingles of a 1300 sq ft house and 600 sq ft garage in Edmonton?
Hey Scott,
Material costs for your roof with a standard Iko shingle including ice and water, felt, vents, goosenecks, plumbing stacks and drip edge, delivery and hoisting to the roof will normally run you between 1.10 and 1.25 a sq ft. So for material only on both your roofs you could anticipate paying between 2000 and 2250 give or take.
Hope this helps!!
You are looking around $1,970 for the material to complete this project. Please keep in mind though that a lot of companies will do a material markup in order stay afloat through the winter months. This percentage could range between 18 & 35 %. Your best bet is to hire a roofing company that comes highly recommended, has all the necessary paper work in order for his company, but buy the material your self. Depending the pitch of your roof and the work involved, you'll get your labor price.
For instance, a 4/12 - 6/12 pitch single deroid tear should cost you around $80 per square. 1500 -1600 all in.

Thank you very much for the replies! So roughly $2500 max in materials, thats awesome. I was expecting closer to $4000.
We only have to worry about the costs of materials because my father in law recently built and shingled his own house, but isn't available until around August to be able to give advise on the roofing costs. He will be assisting a crew of us in putting the roof on.
