I have purchased an older home that needs some updating. it's about 1750 sq/ft, the living area has beautiful hardwood I would like to carry throughout the whole home and tile in the entryway and the laundry/mudroom. Should I remove the island and baseboards for the contractor?
also for painting should I have him come in before or after??
and a budget is 10-15 thousand dollars.
A contractor or flooring installer generally has no issues with removing the baseboards at a minimal price, if it is a job you feel you can tackle though have at it! Depending on the size and construction of the island an installer should be able to raise the cabinets enough to run flooring underneath.
An order we like to follow would be removal of old floors and millwork, wall painting, new flooring install, millwork install, and finally paint the new millwork and complete any necessary wall touch ups.
Hope this helps!
