When you bid on a paint job do you estimate by floor sq ft or the actual wall sq footage? I've heard both?

Depends on the type of job, but generally I price by sq/ft. Unless, it's a sub-contracting job then board foot is used more

You need to measure the actual wall sq ft. You cannot go by the floor because of the different ranges in ceiling heights. Hope that helps!

When I bid on a painting job, I usually look to see how long i think it will take me/us and go from there. Square footage is not always accurate as a bidding guide because surfaces can vary greatly from job to the next. Hope this helps !
