I have a 16' high by 12 foot wide wall. steel frame non-loading bearing wall where I need to hang a lot of objects (pans, plates, metal pans, utensils etc..) for decoration on the wall
the wall is spaced 24" o.c. and is non load bearing wall. and the wall will be filled with all sort of decoration that i have listed....
whats the weight limit for something like that is there a chart where I can find my maximum load ?
You can hang almost anything from this wall. It all depends on how well the fixture being used to hang your various items is strapped to the wall. Weight distribution is the key.
Having said that. An individual metal stud (16'x3.5") fastened only at top & bottom plate, will likely hold no more than 225 lbs. before failure.
To reiterate, weight distribution is key in this installation.
When it comes to Steel stud walls it is important that it is supported the opposite way at the top of the wall approximately every 8 feet we put a perpendicular support. If this has been done you should be able to hang 200 lb or so with no issues as long as you use proper fasteners.
