I have a house that was built in 1880 and has a stone foundation. The stones are 1 ft by 3ft in size. There has always been a problem with water in the basement. I would like to dig the interior of my foundation down and install an interior drainage system. My question is how far can I dig down beside the foundation? Can I dig to the base of the stone without undermining the soil?
