We are doing a kitchen renovation on mostly a DIY basis, but we need to remove a load-bearing wall - where can we find a structural engineer to do a small job like this in the GTA? And how much should it run us roughly?
Hi,
A structural engineer can cost anywhere from $1000 and up for them to perform a site assessment, resolution, and put their P-eng stamp on it. We work with some structural engineers if you are interested.

I can comment on Calgary, as we have a number of suppliers like D&E, Star building and Zytech that all do lumber packages for new construction, they have engineers on staff and can spec the beam and supply it for you. I would expect Toronto to be similar.
All the best

Hi Fiona,
We have suppliers that can spec a beam for you. Are you looking to tackle the install yourselves? We have done lots of these and they don't take long. For the nearly the cost of an engineer we could probably do the install.
Or if you call us we can point you to our supplier.
Thanks,
Jeremy
Hi, i have a structural engineer that can come out for a site visit and then prepare a diagram/sketch and stamp it for $750.00
We just finished removing a load bearing wall and building a kitchen down the road from you in Port Credit, see picture of a large opening and that was created with 2-lvl beams, then drywalled over. Do you know a quote on this work? george 416-831-9735
