Hey team.

I have a client who has a paper tape joint on a basement ceiling that has let go in one area. Perhaps caused by water, no real stains...just not adhering anymore. Now the ceiling has orange peel or California knock down...

What do you recommend for a repair?

I strongly recommend you contact a trusted Pro knock-down ceiling specialist in your area.

From my experience. Once the tape is loose you have to pull it off and re-tape it. With the proper drywall compound that has glue in it. Then unfortunately you have to Redo the knock down in that area Which is quite tricky to do to match it correctly and you will need someone who has done it for a long time. Once it is repaired if it's not the exact colour you will then have to Paint the entire ceiling unfortunately.
