Does anyone know: If you already have a renovation contract signed before this new HST comes into effect, are you exempted from paying it? Are there any time limits on it?

I've searched for an answer on this also and have not found a definitive answer.

Anybody else find out an answer?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Nicole,

In response to your question, the information I received from our professional association indicates that any products or labour purchased before HST is exempt. But, if you are still in the middle of the renovation during that transition, then any outstanding labour required or products will fall under the HST regardless of when the contract was signed. Better to get the project done before it is implemented. Hope this helps.
