I am having a mudroom built and need the floor tiled. I have the tiles, and asked a contractor for a quote to install but it seems quite high. How much should I expect to pay for install (labour, thinset, ditra, grout etc.). I'm in Toronto

Hello ,So how do you figure out a Realistic Budget for tile:Start by measuring your floors then use these a guide lines to determine how much you need in your budget to get the Tile floors you want.

Expect to pay per square foot 3.50 $-9.50 $. for these materials including installation cost in the middle of the price range .is PORCELAIN an CERAMIC tiles both are durable an suitable for wet environments they run anywhere from 5 to 10 $per Square foot.when you include the cost of installation.

Installation cost: Level of a difficulty to install.

Distance to installation.

Issues with the Subflooring.

Who you are working with.

Ceramic tile averages around 5$ a square foot.

PORCELAIN tile generally comes in at a comparable 5$6.50 per square foot.

Natural Stone tiles cost 8.50$per square foot.

The best way to keep installation cost under control is to get Estimates from multiple Contractors.

Ditra Antifracture Membrane 1.90 $ per square foot.and 2.50 square foot installation.

Cost to install Grouting ex:134 Square foot= 100 $.

All the best with your Project .

It will cost you not more than $1000 with a right contractor. If you inquire from a GC it can go up to $1500. Small area don't go by sq ft. I don't know why some people advise without knowledge. The important thing is to find a right contractor. Some people might offer to do it for $500 but I wouldn't go that route.
