We have an old (20 years) jacuzzi tub with jets in our en-suite that we'd like to replace with a regular non jetted tub. Approximately how much would a job like that cost, and how long would that take?
This may take a less than a week in my opinion as per the cost mine was replaced last year and it only cost me 500$ because I personally knew the person so I only pay for the labor.
Much like any renovation project, it all really comes down to preference. If you want a simple R&R (Remove and replace) it should be no more than a couple of days for someone who knows what they are doing. You however have tile surround, so that would need to be addressed also, my timer guy can do a tub surround with a subway tile (or similar simple styles) in a day from a start to grouting, the only thing needed would be the silicon around all the works afterwards. Cost wise, it depends on the company and how they run their business. Bigger companies have bigger overheads so that is all factored into the proposal. Smaller companies are more cost effective but 9/10 times they are fly by night type handymen. Best advice would be to do your due diligence and find a contractor that you like, don't be afraid to interview a few before you pick one. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Of course it all depeds on a budget, but instead of buying a new one, I`d check what I can do with an old one. It's not only for your budget, but also for ecology. I hired professionals, and they did everything great, so maybe you should try to find your local ones!
