UL Assemblies: How to Denote?

Good afternoon everyone,

I am an architecture consultant and am working out an attic addition for my General Contractor for a small balloon frame in Ontario. As it seems, due to the proximity to our neighboring home (understandably), we need a 1-hour Rating for our exterior wall.

My contractor is adamant about employing Gentek's Aluminum siding as the rain screen to match the existing (vinyl) siding below- the goal is to build our exterior walls flush to the existing to give that appearance that the attic has always been there.

I thought I would take it upon myself to escape the clutches of SB-2 and learn how to build a UL assembly and add this to our drawing schedule. I have recently signed up for a UL Product IQ account so that I can better diagnose assembles, by code that meet our FRR requirement.

It would seem the our select Gentek siding complies with U026, and after searching for it under UL's tools I have been given a list of 'approved' components that would go into that assembly. In order to ensure we're doing this right, I just want to make sure that we list this correctly on the drawings.

Is anyone familiar with designating UL-based assemblies on their drawing schedules, or any contractors that are familiar with building these? I just want it to be crystal clear as during one of our drawing checks with our local building officials want definitive proof that our assembly is, indeed a rated wall.

Thank you all so much in advance for taking the time to read through this and for any wisdom you may wish to impart to this young technologist-training. :)

Yours respectfully,

Cory
