My house was a gift from my grandmother. It's a beautiful 1900 victorian style house. I saw the leak in the past 30 years near the roof where the chimney is situated. So I was thinking of replacing the slate with Vermont roofing. Whenever I've seen this roof tile on other houses, I always wanted to have the same kind for my home. But I'm not sure about the slate roof longevity? Please feel free to suggest.
Hi There,
To answer your question about the longevity of the slate, it will last up to and sometimes longer then 100yrs. This also depends on the installation process. Slate/ copper roofs are the longest lasting roofs.
I hope this helps you out.
Thank you,
Daryl
Slate roofs are among the longest lasting roofs for any structure. Typically you can find slate roofs that are 100+ years old if they are properly maintained and installed. This longevity come with a very high material and installation cost. However there have been some great new products developed in the last 5-10 years that simulate the look beautifully.
