I was wondering for restaurant kitchen is vinyl flooring good if its 8mil waterproof and heat resisting. the cost for installation is fracture of the cost than tile. and the look is very nice
Hi it may look good and the price is less but it would not last as long. But if you are looking for a short time fix it would work but not if you plan on being there for years to come.
The choices of the commercial vinyl plank is the best choice for your project. Looks nicer and less cost with less maintenance. Go for it
there is a new option that is really durable and good...but i doubt its the cheapest, but it would stay up to code for a longer time period
Restaurant kitchens have certain health code restrictions that only allow certain types of flooring that can be used, it sounds like you are referring to lvt (luxury vinyl tile) as regular sheet vinyl is not avail in a 8 mm thickness. I would check with your local health dept before making any big changes to your kitchen flooring.
If they approve this type of flooring you would need to consider different issues that you may have with this type of flooring ;
Is it slippery when wet ?
Will oil damage it ?
Will collect dirt/bacteria in the cracks or grooves ?
How will it hold up to things being dropped on it ?
If it chips or gouges easily it will need repaired frequently, what warranty will you receive in this situation ?
What is installed currently ?
What kind of floor preparation will be needed to properly install this new flooring? Will the cost of prep greatly impact overall costs ?
It may be a good savings short term but what will the long term saving be if you need to disrupt the kitchen again in the near future.
