I have a 35 yr old home in the Ottawa area. As a result we seem to have some cold areas on some of our walls. Is it a good idea to seal the bottom of our vinyl siding with foam insulation or sealant or must this area stay open for breathing or water exiting?
Paul,
If you blow in foam insulation from the outside, you will likely cause the vinyl siding to expand outwards with the expanding foam.
Insulation should be done properly, from the inside.
Will drive drywall and paint repairs, but best to do it properly.
