How can I supply water to a tiny home off the grid, in the winter in Ontario?
Hi Denise,
Being off the grid I assume you're on well water correct?
Your plumbing will be exactly the same, however you will need to run heat tape through all your exterior water lines. Your well will be below the frost line and so won't freeze through so your pump will also be fine. Your only concern will be the transportation of that water into the home and those lines freezing. Heat tape will solve that problem for you. It will likely cause your hydro bill to increase a bit, unless you're on solar. If you're on solar that is of course something you'll need to factor into your capacity calculation to make sure you can power the entire home with your current set up.
Afterthought, but if you're not on a well and plan to draw from a lake, the principle is the same.
Good luck!
