Hello ladies and gentlemen.

Been a while since I priced out a drop ceiling. What the average cost for materials only 2x2 tiles, 500 sq ft basement area during a pandemic?

Cheers

Ceiling tiles vary in price from about $4.00 per sq. ft. up. On top of the tiles themselves, you'll require the track, assuming it's a new ceiling. Best suggestion is to visit a Home Depot, Lowes, or other home improvement store and give them your dimensions of the area you want to cover. They will work out a price and show you the different options of tiles.

Hope this helps.
