I had a Congoleum DuraCeramic floor professionally installed less than 4 months ago because we were told by several flooring people (at different stores) that it was a good product for a kitchen. They lied. We have a darker tile and the top layer is like tissue paper under a layer of cheap white glue. If you drop anything it nicks/scratches and shows white (the next layer!). I looked up the reviews (too late) to discover thousands have had similar complaints. So instead of spending the next 10 years on my hands and knees with crayons to hide the nicks and scratches (some from something crunchy swept with a broom!), I want to know: is there's something I can put on it to make a thicker, tougher, top layer? It is grouted with Congoleum grout. I know it will void warranty, but from what I've read, Congoleum doesn't honour the warranty on this stuff well at all, so I'd rather protect it before it looks horrible like others'. Thank you in advance!
Hi Ta,
Sorry to hear about your issues. I haven't personally dealt with these tiles before, but I did a little digging and found this thread (with pictures attached)
They used polyurethane to finish the tiles which would give it a much hardier finish that could stand up to more abuse than clearly the Congoluem stuff is. Added benefit, polyurethane isn't incredibly expensive and is repairable. Possibly worth a try, or at least more research.

Hope this helps.
